Acupuncture
Acupuncture began in China as an important component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and involves the insertion of fine needles into specific anatomical points (acupuncture points) to encourage natural healing. This produces a local effect on the muscles, nerves, and tendons/ligaments, as well as a whole body systemic effect via the nervous system.
Acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, the bodies natural pain relieving hormones.
Therapeutic effects include:
Pain relief
Increased energy
Improved mood
Improved body function
Acupuncture works to bring the body into a state of homeostasis (or in TCM Yin/Yang balance).
